Clark Hill Attorney Tim McCarthy to Moderate Panel Discussion Covering “Copyright—The Changing Face of Creativity”

CHICAGO, IL

– Attorney Tim McCarthy, Senior Counsel in Clark Hill PLC’s Chicago Office, will be moderating a panel discussion covering “Copyright—The Changing Face of Creativity.” The panel is part one of a new educational series on Intellectual Property in the 21st Century, sponsored by Heartland Angels, a Chicago-based, early-stage private equity capital investment network.

The event will be held—on February 7, 2011, at 6:30 P.M.—at Drinker, Biddle and Reath LLP, located at 191 N. Wacker Drive, Suite 3700.

Timothy M. McCarthy

is a Senior Counsel in Clark Hill’s Intellectual Property practice group in the firm’s Chicago office. Concentrating his practice in the area of intellectual property, Tim obtains, enforces, and defends his clients’ intellectual property rights afforded by their patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. McCarthy is licensed to practice law in Illinois and in numerous federal courts, and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office as well as the Canadian Intellectual Property Office.

McCarthy’s practice is national. He has been principal or sole patent counsel on dozens of issued United States patents and has tried cases across the country. His areas of expertise are vast, and include: cancer detection methods and techniques, continuous positive pressure therapeutics methods and devices, cytology and imunohistochemistry, microscopy and optics, telepathology and image recognition, biomedical instrumentation, metallurgical services and processes, four-color printing processes, food preparation equipment, and transportation vehicles.

He also is an adjunct professor and teaches intellectual property and product design at the Institute of Design, a graduate school of Illinois Institute of Technology.

While in Law School, he was Articles Editor of the Houston Law Review, a teaching assistant for legal research, and a member of the school’s interscholastic mock trial team. Additionally, McCarthy was a recipient of the Fulbright & Jaworski Award and the Butler, Binion, Rice, Cook & Knapp Award.

McCarthy is active in public service, and is a long-time volunteer on the Motorcycle Safety Crew for the Avon Chicago Walk for Breast Cancer.
