May 5, 2016

DETROIT, MI – Thomas Hathaway, currently Of Counsel at Clark Hill PLC in Detroit, is a candidate for one of the four open, non-incumbent Third Circuit Court judge positions in Wayne County.

Hathaway, one of 22 candidates, is seeking a six-year term with the Wayne County Circuit Court as part of the August 2 primary elections. Hathaway, an attorney since the 1970s, is a labor & employment lawyer, with experience in personal injury, admiralty law, business law and litigation. He has successfully represented employers, school districts, municipalities, individuals, and businesses before the U.S. and Michigan Supreme Courts, various state and federal trial and appellate courts throughout the U.S., as well as federal and state administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), Michigan Employment Relations Commission, Michigan Employment Security Commission (now called the Unemployment Insurance Agency), and the Michigan Department of Civil Rights.

In addition to his litigation and client counseling experience, Hathaway has served as a Chair of the Michigan State Bar Character and Fitness Committee, Wayne District, 2004-2008, and currently serves on the State Bar Standing Committee on Character and Fitness as an Advisory Member since 2008.  His extensive experience coupled with his role as the sole Arbitrator, Defense Arbitrator and Mediator in Panel Arbitration/Mediation and as a facilitator for Alternate Dispute Resolution, demonstrates the characteristics and temperament expected of a member of the judiciary.
