Grand Rapids, MI – Clark Hill Attorney Steven F. Stapleton will present “USA Hockey Bylaw 10 and the Procedure for Suspension and Discipline of Members” at the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association Summer Meeting in Bellaire, MI on July 8, 2016.
The Michigan Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA) is a sanctioned affiliate of USA Hockey which supervises the activities of over 2,500 amateur hockey teams, and 50,000 players and coaches using a volunteer workforce of elected and appointed officials. MAHA administers amateur hockey in Michigan through seven established districts. Each District is responsible for the local teams and Associations in their area.
Stapleton is a Member of Clark Hill’s Litigation Practice Group in the Grand Rapids office. He serves as general outside counsel to the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association and is a member of the USA Hockey Legal Council. He serves as special counsel to the Texas Amateur Hockey Association and Utah Amateur Hockey Association. He is familiar with the obligations under state and federal laws related to the sports entity and often assists his sports related clients on corporate governance and restructuring, contract review and drafting, negotiations and employment related issues. He also has extensive experience in implementing and monitoring comprehensive background screening programs for sports organizations and conducting sensitive investigations on behalf of the sports entity related to allegations of abuse or potential ethics violations.
