Clark Hill Attorney Robert Weyhing Appointed Officer of the French National Order of Merit

July 15, 2014

Detroit, MI – Clark Hill attorney Robert Weyhing was appointed to the rank of Officer (Officier) in the French National Order of Merit (Ordre national du Mérite) on July 14, 2014.

This honor was awarded to Weyhing as a mark of the French government’s appreciation for his 15 years of service as Honorary Consul of France in Michigan (1997 – 2012) and for his long-lasting contributions to the French community, at large and in Michigan in particular.

Current Honorary Consul of France in Michigan, Pascal Goachet, bestowed on Weyhing the insignia of “Officer of the French National Order of Merit” during the French Bastille Day celebration that took place at The Village Club in Bloomfield Hills, MI and assembled 120 members of the French community present in Southeast Michigan.

The National Order of Merit of France is an Order of State with membership awarded by the President of the French Republic. It was founded on December 3, 1963, by President Charles de Gaulle to reward outstanding services rendered to France on the basis of personal merit. Counting approximately 2500 members to date, the National Order of Merit stands as one of France’s highest distinctions.

Weyhing has practiced corporate law for 40 years and has extensive experience in representing and providing advice to businesses.
