Clark Hill Attorney Robert D. Gordon to Present at the American Bankruptcy Institute 32nd Annual Spring Meeting in Washington D.C.

– Clark Hill attorney Robert D. Gordon will present on the topic of Municipal Bankruptcies a the American Bankruptcy Institute’s 32nd Annual Spring Meeting in Washington D.C. on April 25, 2014.

The American Bankruptcy Institute is the largest multi-disciplinary, non-partisan organization dedicated to research and education on matters related to insolvency. ABI was founded in 1982 to provide Congress and the public with unbiased analysis of bankruptcy issues. The ABI membership includes more than 13,000 attorneys, auctioneers, bankers, judges, lenders, professors, turnaround specialists, accountants and other bankruptcy professionals providing a forum for the exchange of ideas and information. In fulfillment of its mission to provide information to its members, journalists, Congress and the public, ABI is engaged in numerous educational and research activities, as well as the production of a number of publications both for the insolvency practitioner and the public.

Gordon is a member of Clark Hill’s Corporate Restructuring & Bankruptcy Practice Group. He focuses his practice in the areas of corporate reorganization, bankruptcy and insolvency-related matters, debtor and creditor rights, workouts, and related commercial litigation.

Gordon has broad experience representing various parties in interest in bankruptcy and other judicial proceedings and in out-of-court workouts and restructurings, spanning a variety of industries and economic segments, including automotive and other manufacturing, municipal finance, real estate, gaming, retail, telecommunications, and aviation. He represents distressed companies, trade creditors and creditors’ committees, pension systems, lenders and other secured parties, purchasers of distressed assets, lessors, and trustees and liquidating agents in complex matters throughout the United States. Gordon also is experienced in serving as a federal court Receiver and is a member of the National Association of Federal Equity Receivers.

Of particular note relative to his presentation at this conference, Gordon is leading his legal team in serving as Special Restructuring Counsel to the Police & Fire Retirement System of the City of Detroit and the General Retirement System of the City of Detroit with respect to the City of Detroit’s Chapter 9 bankruptcy. Gordon has also frequently provided counsel and made presentations to government and school officials and others involved in municipal finance, regarding Chapter 9 municipal bankruptcy issues.
