Clark Hill Attorney Ray J. Koenig III Reappointed by Mayor Rahm Emanuel to Serve On the Chicago Commission on Human Relations

Clark Hill Managing Member Ray J. Koenig’s reappointment by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel as a Commissioner, serving on the Chicago Commission on Human Relations, was approved at the February 5, 2014 City Council meeting. The commission, which works to prevent hate crimes, adjudicates in cases of discrimination and oversees the city’s identity-based advisory councils, consists of up to 15 members. Koenig’s first term as a Commissioner began on June 6, 2012.

“This is a terrific honor,” Koenig said. “For me it’s a great opportunity to help the city protect equal rights and share ideas with thought leaders. I am very proud to have been asked by Mayor Emanuel to continue to serve in this capacity and look forward this responsibility and the continuing opportunity to make a difference.”

Koenig currently sits on the boards for Chicago House, Chicago Bar Association, and Chicago Bar Foundation, chairs the Cook County State’s Attorney’s LGBT Advisory Council, and is a member of Congressman Mike Quigley’s LGBT Advisory Council, and Ald. Tom Tunney’s Senior Advisory Council, among other groups.

“Throughout their careers, these individuals have shown a deep dedication to serving communities across Chicago,” said Mayor Emanuel. “My administration is committed to providing people in every neighborhood with the highest quality and most effective services. I’m confident these appointees will help the City achieve its goals.”

Koenig is the Managing Member of Clark Hill’s Chicago office, a member of Clark Hill’s Executive Committee, and a member in Clark Hill’s Litigation Practice Group. He practices in the areas of probate litigation, trust litigation, fiduciary litigation, elder law, estate planning, and estate administration, with an emphasis on will, trust, guardianship, and advance directive contests and other fiduciary litigation. Koenig has represented individuals, families, financial institutions, medical institutions, and governmental organizations in all areas of his practice. Koenig has extensive trial, appellate and mediation experience in state and federal courts.
