Clark Hill Attorney P. Douglas Folk to Present at the ACEC Fall National Conference – October 29

PHOENIX, AZ –

Clark Hill attorney P. Douglas Folk will present “Partnering for Success with Native American Tribes”, a business practices educational program, to the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Fall National Conference on Tuesday, October 29, with his co-presenter, Scott Schmidt of Stuckey Insurance.

Doug Folk will provide an overview of legal, cultural and business considerations for managing risk and developing successful, long-lasting business relationships with American Indian tribes and Alaskan Native communities. Development of renewable energy and natural resources projects, infrastructure, housing and social services on tribal lands will lead to significant business opportunities for those companies prepared for the longer development cycles common in reservation projects. If Native American lands were aggregated, they would represent the fourth largest state in the United States. Tribal lands hold almost 25% of America’s onshore oil and gas resources, one-third of the West’s low sulfur coal, and many sites for solar and wind power generation. Tribal law and procurement practices present unique challenges to design professionals and contractors that will be addressed in this program.
