– Clark Hill attorney Kevin A. Fanning recently presented “Strategic Use of Receiverships to Deal with Troubled Retail Assets” at the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC)’s Michigan Continuing Education Program for Real Estate Professionals on February 9, 2012 at Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Michigan. Fanning’s roundtable presentation was attended by industry leaders in lending, brokerage, property management, and property development. Fanning’s cutting-edge knowledge and use of receiverships in the Southeast Michigan real estate market are widely recognized.

Fanning’s practice focuses on all aspects of complex commercial, industrial, office, and retail property matters, including litigation, commercial property workouts, foreclosures and strategic use of receiverships. Fanning also provides highly specialized counsel in disputes over the condition of warehouses and other industrial properties upon lease expiration or termination, especially in matters involving substantial alleged damages.

publication. He has authored numerous articles for legal and trade publications. He is an active member of BOMA Detroit, where he currently serves as the Chairperson of the Education Committee. Most recently, Fanning has served as counsel in foreclosure and receivership actions for various loan servicers involving a large Midwest shopping mall, numerous retail shopping centers across Michigan, and apartment complexes with thousands of units in various localities. He also recently fought for and won the appointment of a receiver over a large shopping center that brought him to and from the Michigan Court of Appeals on two separate occasions where he was successful both times.
Fanning also serves as counsel to various retail shopping plazas and other commercial property owners in all aspects of leasing and property management, including day-to-day leasing and enforcement of landlord rights.
