DETROIT, MI – Clark Hill attorney Joseph B. Urban to present to Detroit Charter School Board Members and school leaders on Thursday, November 3, 2016. Urban will provide an informational seminar to school stakeholders that addresses the changing educational landscape in Detroit. Topics will include a discussion of charter accountability through the “A-F Grading System” recently codified; the strengthened role of the State School Reform Officer in monitoring priority schools, the Third Grade Reading Retention legislation and the impact of the statutorily-mandated accreditation system for authorizers with schools in Detroit.

Urban is a member in Clark Hill’s Education Practice Group and concentrates his practice in the areas of municipal finance, education law, and real estate law. He routinely represents school employers in the areas of collective bargaining, grievances and arbitration, unfair labor practices, wrongful discharge and the day-to-day matters arising in personnel administration.
