Clark Hill Attorney Joseph B. Urban to Present During the Michigan Association of Public School Academies’ Charter Start Program

BIRMINGHAM, MI

– Clark Hill attorney Joseph B. Urban will present an intensive session on Board Governance for prospective charter school board members and founding teams as part of the Michigan Association of Public School Academies’ (“MAPSA”) Charter Start program. The interactive program, which runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on September 21, will focus participants on the fundamentals of incorporating the founding team, board-administration relations, transparency, and ethics in governance. Joe will also provide an introduction to the Freedom of Information Act and the Open Meetings Act. The morning session of the presentation will include a team presentation in which Joe and Mr. Mark Eitrem of the Michigan Department of Education discuss conflicts of interest and the administration of charter school grant funds under the US DOE EDGAR regulations. The program will be hosted by MAPSA at the Lansing Radisson Hotel.
