Urban will appear as a special guest speaker and team the Michigan Counsel of Charter School Boards and Clearscope, LLC charter school financial advisors to present “Charter School Development: Navigating the Issues in Charter School Financing and Development” on Thursday, May 13th from 1 pm – 3 pm at the Novi Sheraton. The event, hosted by a consortium of experts in all aspects of real estate and school development, including technology, financing, interior architecture, risk management and acquisition will focus on familiarizing participants with the planning process for one of the most critical of school decisions: how to create a safe, orderly and stimulating environment in which children will learn and grow.
Joseph B. Urban
is a member in Clark Hill’s Birmingham office, where he concentrates his practice in the areas of municipal finance, education law, and real estate law.
Joe has represented Michigan school district and municipal clients, as well as private entities providing financing to these organizations for over a decade. He has extensive experience in municipal and school finance, regularly serving as bond and underwriter’s counsel for school districts, public school academies, and other governmental units as well as counseling them in the acquisition and disposition of real property.
With respect to education law, Joe regularly counsels school districts and public school academies in the operational issues involved in administering educational organizations, including compliance with the Revised School Code, the Open Meetings Act, the Freedom of Information Act, and other laws governing public bodies.
Joe is an adjunct professor at Oakland University’s School of Education and Professional Development.
