March 13, 2017

BIRMINGHAM, MI – Clark Hill attorney Joseph B. Urban has been selected by the Detroit Public Schools Community District Financial Transition Team to Chair the Committee charged with drafting the DPSCD’s Financial Transition Report.  The team, made up of multiple stakeholders, including a Board of Education member, administrators, community stakeholders and attended regularly by a representative of the Financial Review Committee, will submit its report this week detailing recommendations for achieving continued financial viability.  The Committee has built upon the work already undertaken by senior District administrators, who have accomplished the tasks set forth in the last Financial Transition Team Report, and set goals for future process alignment and staff development within DPSCD to ensure continued success.

Urban is a member in Clark Hill’s Birmingham office, where he concentrates his practice in the areas of municipal finance, education law, and real estate law. He routinely represents school employers in the areas of collective bargaining, grievances and arbitration, unfair labor practices, wrongful discharge and the day-to-day matters arising in personnel administration.
