Clark Hill Attorney Jenice Mitchell Ford Named Michigan Chronicle 2016 Woman of Excellence Honoree
Detroit, MI. – Clark Hill Attorney Jenice Mitchell Ford has been selected as a Michigan Chronicle 2016 Woman of Excellence Honoree. Michigan Chronicle defines a Woman of Excellence as one who exemplifies the stature, poise, and grace that characterize the essence of womanhood, all while maintaining the delicate balance of filling the roles of helpmate, mother, teacher, and professional. A Woman of Excellence is the champion of economic empowerment and diversity, the backbone of religious and educational organizations, and a driving force in politics and community service. Mitchell Ford will be honored at the Celebration of Excellence event at Cobo Center on May 13, 2016.
During her tenure as Chairperson of the 2009-2012 elected Detroit Charter Revision Commission, Crain’s Detroit Business called Jenice the “most powerful person in Detroit you’ve never heard of.” This description was most appropriate because she quietly worked to restore people’s trust in government by operating in a professional, efficient and transparent fashion.
Jenice’s service to the community continues. Her life passion is interpreting complicated issues in a way that allows every person access to information. She is often found providing free workshops on legislation and political analysis on Channel 7-WXYZ.
For nearly two decades Jenice has practiced law with a focus on commercial litigation and education/municipal law. She is an alumna of M.L. King High School, Georgetown University and Northwestern School of Law. Jenice and husband, Harry Ford III, proudly reside in Detroit. She serves on the boards of the Community Foundation of Southeastern Michigan, Minerva Education Development Foundation and Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association. Jenice is also an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. where she serves as Michigan State Secretary and Chaplain for the Detroit Alumnae Chapter.
At Clark Hill Jenice focuses her litigation practice in the areas of municipal, education, commercial and business, real estate and insurance law at both the trial and appellate levels of federal and state courts. She was named to Crain's Detroit Business 40 Under 40 Class of 2010. Also, she was recognized as Michigan Lawyers Weekly's Up & Coming Lawyer (2009) for her stellar work in the law. Jenice served as Chair of the elected 2009-2012 City of Detroit Charter Revision Commission where she was tasked with re-writing the city’s constitution. In this role, she successfully led a public campaign resulting in 58% voter approval of the new city charter.
