Detroit, MI – Clark Hill attorney Anne-Marie Vercruysse Welch will present at the American Society of Employers' Employment Law Workshop on September 17, 2015, at the VisTaTech Center of Schoolcraft College in Livonia, Michigan.
Presenting “Same-Sex Marriage and LGBT Rights Under the Law”, Welch will discuss the legislative and legal history of LGBT rights and its impact on employers. She will review the recent Supreme Court decision to approve same-sex marriage and the EEOC declaration that LGBT rights fall under sex discrimination in Title VII. Using different potential scenarios, Welch will provide guidance on how to do the right thing in the workplace to ensure respect for LGBT rights.
Welch is a senior attorney in Clark Hill’s Labor & Employment Practice Group. As an employment and labor law specialist, she defends employers in state and federal lawsuits and administrative proceedings against wrongful discharge, discrimination, harassment, retaliation and related statutory and common law claims. She also prosecutes and defends claims pertaining to confidentiality, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements.
