Clark Hill attorney Anne-Marie Vercruysse Welch was elected to the Board of Directors of The Community House in Birmingham, MI on January 25, 2010. Anne-Marie will serve a two year term.
Anne-Marie Vercruysse Welch
is an associate of Clark Hill’s Detroit office. Selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers – Rising Stars Edition 2009, her areas of practice focus primarily on employment litigation, counseling and investigations, labor law, and nonprofit risk management. She is experienced in defending against discrimination, harassment, wrongful discharge, and related tort claims, as well as in pursuing and defending claims pertaining to non-competition agreements and unemployment insurance. Anne-Marie has defended employers before both state and federal agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Michigan Department of Civil Rights, the National Labor Relations Board, the Michigan Employment Relations Commission, the Michigan Public School Employees’ Retirement System Board and the Michigan Employment Security Board of Review.
Anne-Marie is a contributor to legal and professional publications and serves as a speaker for business and trade organizations on topics such as volunteer liability, employee misuse of the Internet, the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, legal hiring and termination practices, privacy rights in the workplace, and employers’ methods to reduce healthcare costs.
As an active participant in the legal community, Anne-Marie serves as the Secretary of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association Barristers, a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the ABA Labor and Employment Law Sections and the ABA/EEOC Liaison Committee and was selected as the 2008-2010 ABA, Section of Labor and Employment Law, YLD Fellow to the Equal Employment Opportunity Committee.
Anne-Marie is also actively engaged in the Detroit Metropolitan community and serves on the board of directors for the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit’s Camping Services, as the Chair of The Birmingham Community House Uptown Group (“T.U.G.”) and is a member of the Royal Oak Woman’s Club.

, from Michigan State University College of Law, where she received a full academic scholarship and earned numerous awards for academic merit, including the Jurisprudence Achievement Award for Employment Discrimination Law and Research, Writing, and Analysis. Anne-Marie also served as an Associate Editor of the MICHIGAN STATE LAW REVIEW, a member of the Phi Delta Phi executive board, a research assistant to an editor of THE NEW WIGMORE ON EVIDENCE, and an intern to the Honorable Avern L. Cohn of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in History and Communications, with honors, from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
