Clark Hill Attorney Anne-Marie Vercruysse Welch Elected President of Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association Barristers Division
DETROIT, MI
– Anne-Marie Vercruysse Welch, labor and employment attorney in Clark Hill’s Detroit office, has been elected as president of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association (DMBA) Barristers division for its 2011-2012 term. Welch has served on the Barristers’ Board of Directors since 2006, and assumes the position of president following her nomination, election and service as president-elect and secretary/treasurer.
As president, Welch will oversee all of the Barristers’ activities, including its new lawyer admission ceremonies, school partnership program with Detroit high schools, Law Day events and other charitable programming. She will also serve as the principal liaison between the Barristers and the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association’s Board of Directors.
The “Barristers” is the young lawyers division of the DMBA. Historically, the Barristers have been the most active and service-oriented division of the DMBA, with a focus on service to the community and service to the Bar.
Anne-Marie Vercruysse Welch
is an associate of Clark Hill’s Detroit office. Selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers – Rising Stars Edition 2009 & 2010, her areas of practice focus primarily on employment litigation, counseling and investigations, and labor law.
She is experienced in defending against wrongful discharge, discrimination and related statutory and tort claims, unfair labor practice charges, as well as in pursuing and defending claims pertaining to non-competition agreements and unemployment insurance. Anne-Marie has defended employers before both state and federal agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Michigan Department of Civil Rights, the National Labor Relations Board, the Michigan Employment Relations Commission, and the Michigan Employment Security Board of Review. She also represents administrators before the Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System Board of Review.
Anne-Marie is a contributor to national and local legal and professional publications and serves as a speaker on topics such as volunteer liability, employee misuse of the Internet, wage and hour issues, legal hiring and termination practices, retaliation, privacy rights in the workplace, Michigan’s smoking ban, and employers’ methods to reduce healthcare costs.
