Brian M. Ziff to Lead Clark Hill PLC Litigation Practice

– Attorney Brian M. Ziff has been selected to lead the national litigation practice for Clark Hill PLC, firm CEO John Hern announced earlier this month. Ziff is a member in the firm’s Phoenix office, and has been practicing law for more than 15 years.

“We are pleased to announce that Brian has assumed the role of leader of our Litigation Practice,” Hern said. “Brian is an accomplished attorney, and has demonstrated leadership skills during his time with the firm.”

In addition to his role as Litigation Practice Group Leader, Ziff also serves as the leader of the firm’s Digital Risk Management (DRM) Team. Ziff has significant experience assisting clients in e-discovery matters, including pre-litigation counseling. In addition, he represents and advises clients in complex business disputes with an emphasis on breach of contract, Uniform Commercial Code, fraud, software implementation, antitrust, and misappropriation of trade secrets litigation. He also regularly represents clients in alternative dispute resolution formats and has significant first- and second-chair trial experience in a variety of sectors, including manufacturing, service, telecommunications, and health care.

Ziff is also a member of Clark Hill’s Recruiting Committee and was Chair of the Committee since from 2006-2010.

In 2008, Ziff was recognized by Law & Politics Magazine as a “Rising Star” in their Super Lawyers publication. Ziff has been interviewed and quoted on e-discovery matters in The Detroit Free Press, Crain’s Detroit Business, WWJ Newsradio 950’s Great Lakes IT Report and Baseline Magazine. He is a frequent speaker on e-discovery matters, and has also advised European counsel and clients on U.S. e-discovery obligations.

Ziff was admitted to practice in Illinois in 1997, Michigan in 1998, and Arizona in 2007. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, the Northern District of Illinois, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Ziff is a member of the American Bar Association (Antitrust Law and Litigation Sections) as well as the Arizona, Illinois, and Michigan Bar Associations. He served as a Barrister for the American Inns of Court from 1999 until 2002.

He received his B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1993 and his J.D., with honors, from the Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1996. Prior to joining the firm, he served as a clerk to the Honorable John J. Bowman of the Illinois Appellate Court.
