Ronald A. King is a member of Clark Hill’s Lansing office and an elected member of the firm's Executive Committee. Ronald focuses his practice in the areas of climate change, environmental law and litigation, commercial litigation, and corporate planning. Ronald heads up the firm's climate change practice and brings a wealth of experience to helping clients solve a wide range of complex business and regulatory problems. Ronald represents a broad range of clients in all manner of environmental matters, including regulatory compliance and enforcement, and complex cost recovery litigation involving multiple parties. His environmental litigation experience is extensive and varied, and includes successfully defending property owners, operators and transporters in actions brought by regulatory agencies and third parties, under federal and state statutes as well as common law. He represents clients (plaintiffs and defendants) in environmental litigation in federal and state courts, and before federal, state and local administrative bodies. Ronald has personally conducted and supervised attorneys in all phases of environmental and other complex commercial litigation, including all aspects of discovery, drafting and arguing motions, trial, and settlement negotiations. He is particularly trained in simplifying and clearly conveying complex scientific data during litigation or trial. He has conducted numerous examinations of expert witnesses on issues ranging from proper sampling techniques, to fate and transport modeling, to chemical fingerprinting analysis. Ronald has substantial experience in all aspects of hazardous waste management, including Part 111 permitting. Ronald brings his considerable expertise in environmental compliance and remediation to focus on achieving cost-effective, creative and environmentally sound solutions to client problems. In his corporate and commercial litigation practice, Ronald develops and implements business and strategic plans for clients, including risk management and asset protection. He has extensive experience negotiating and drafting corporate documents, including by-laws, buy-sell agreements and stock purchase agreements. In addition, he regularly represents clients in all aspects of commercial litigation, from claim evaluation through trial, in various state and federal courts, including both jury and bench trials.
