Clark Hill Attorneys Ray J. Koenig III and Leslie Gutierrez to Present at NAELA’S 8th Annual Council of Advanced Practitioners Conference – August 16

CHICAGO – Clark Hill Chicago Attorneys Ray J. Koenig III and Leslie Gutierrez will present “Same Sex Partners Access to Benefits: Married vs. Unmarried,” at the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys Inc.’s (NAELA) 8th Annual Council of Advanced Practitioners Conference.. The legal world changed for same-sex spouses with the U.S. Supreme Court’s Windsor decision. Koenig and Gutierrez will discuss where we were ten years ago and where we are now, as well as where you are “married” for purposes of receiving federal benefits, benefits of married couples, and what non-married couples can do. The conference will be held on Friday, August 16 and Saturday, August 17 at the Ritz Carlton Chicago and is limited to NAELA CAP members only.

Koenig is the managing member of Clark Hill’s Chicago office and a member in Clark Hill’s Litigation Practice Group. He practices in the areas of probate litigation, trust litigation, fiduciary litigation, elder law, estate planning and estate administration, with an emphasis on will, trust, guardianship, and advance directive contests and other fiduciary litigation. Koenig has represented individuals, families, financial institutions, medical institutions, and governmental organizations in all areas of his practice. Koenig has extensive trial, appellate and mediation experience in state and federal courts.

Gutierrez is an Associate with the Litigation Practice Group in Clark Hill’s Chicago office. Gutierrez concentrates her practice in commercial litigation, including contract disputes, business torts, and products liability. Gutierrez also practices in the area of estate litigation and administration.
