Leahy will present “Amendments to the Reporting Requirements for Federal Contractors under the Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act” webinar on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 8:30 am. The webinar will focus on the general employment preferences veterans are given in employment under the Vietnam Era Veterans Adjustment Act (VEVRRA) and the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), existing reporting requirements under VEVRAA, changes in the reporting requirements, collecting relevant data, and the effective date of the new regulations. Tracy A. Leahy is a Senior Attorney in Clark Hill's Labor & Employment Practice Group. Prior to joining Clark Hill, Ms. Leahy was an associate at Brady Hathaway Brady & Bretz, P.C.. She defends employers in state and federal actions including claims of sex, race, age, national origin, and disability discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblowers, FMLA, and wrongful discharge claims. She is also experienced in defending actions brought under Michigan ’s Sales Representative Commissions Act.


Ms. Leahy drafts and revises employment policies including employee handbooks, manuals, sexual and other unlawful harassment policies, drug testing, FMLA and absenteeism policies. She has lectured for companies on such topics as the FMLA, the ADA and workers compensation.


Ms. Leahy also advises employers regarding issues related to wage and hour compliance, EEO compliance, employer recordkeeping, personnel files, reductions in force and general employment issues. She has represented employers in employment arbitrations and before the Michigan Employment Security Commission and the Illinois Department of Human Rights.


Ms. Leahy graduated from Michigan State University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She received her law degree from the University of Detroit Law School in 1986. In law school, Ms. Leahy was an Article and Book Review Editor of the University of Detroit Law Review .


Following graduation from law school, Ms. Leahy was an associate in the law firm of MacArthur, Cheatham, Acker & Smith, P.C. She later became a shareholder in the successor firm of Cheatham, Estes, Leahy & Hollman, P.C. where she specialized in the defense of physicians and hospitals in medical malpractice and health care litigation.


Ms. Leahy is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, Labor and Employment Law and Negligence Sections and the American Bar Association, Labor and Employment Law, Employee Rights and Responsibilities, Law Practice Management and Litigation Sections. Ms. Leahy is also a member of Inforum, formerly the Women’s Economic Club. She has also lectured on the FMLA, ADA and the Michigan workers disability compensation statutes.
