Timothy D. Lee
Timothy Lee is an Associate in the Firm's Banking & Finance Practice Group. His practice focuses on representing borrowers and lenders in a variety of secured and unsecured commercial financing transactions, including syndicated transactions, single-lender transactions, asset-based loans and acquisition financings. In addition, Tim is a member of the Firm’s Consumer Financial Services Regulatory & Compliance Practice Group where he provides guidance to clients seeking to navigate the complex regulatory environment of the financial services industry.
Tim graduated summa cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law, graduating as one of the top students in his class. Tim attended Michigan State University College of Law as a recipient of a full academic scholarship and received numerous awards for academic achievement. These included Jurisprudence Achievement Awards for academic excellence in Contracts, Constitutional Law, and Pre-Trial and the Third Place Overall Award out of approximately 250 submissions in the 2014 Donald Nystrom Best Brief Competition.
While in law school, Tim served as Managing Editor of the Michigan State Law Review and earned a certificate from Michigan State University College of Law’s Trial Practice Institute. Additionally, Tim served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Judge David McKeague of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and as a research assistant for Professor Daniel D. Barnhizer.
Prior to attending law school, Tim worked in numerous legislative capacities within Michigan’s state government, ending his tenure as Legislative Director for the Chairman of House Banking and Financial Services Committee where he was named 2011 Legislative Staff Person of the Year by the Michigan Credit Union League and Affiliates.
Tim graduated from the College of Wooster in 2009, where he was a four-year starter on, and team captain of, the lacrosse team. In his free time, Tim enjoys spending time with his wife, Kerry, and daughters, Madeline and Lillianne. Tim also enjoys playing golf, following Detroit sports, and traveling to Northern Michigan.
