Associate

Lena M. Gonzalez is an Associate with the Immigration and Litigation Practice Groups in Clark Hill’s Detroit Office.

Lena graduated cum laude from Wayne State University Law School, where she was awarded membership in the Dean’s Scholars Program, earning full tuition scholarship. Throughout her time at Wayne Law, Lena participated in a community outreach program with a high school in Detroit. As a co-founder of the program, Lena worked with her classmates to organize a forum for the high school students to discuss legal and social issues with local politicians and businessmen.

Lena’s passion for advocacy led her to join Wayne Law’s Mock Trial team and to eventually serve as a member of the Executive Board. Lena’s interest grew as she practiced with the National Mock Trial team, won the Texas Young Lawyers Association’s (TYLA) regional competition, and competed as a finalist at the national competition in Texas. Additionally, after her first and second years of law school, Lena served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Judge Julian A. Cook, Jr. and Chief Judge Gerald E. Rosen in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

During her third year at Wayne Law, Lena participated as a member of the Transactional Law team under the direction of Professor Eric Zacks. Lena gained experience in corporate transactions, including studying the intricacies of indemnification agreements and term sheets. Lena placed first in both contract drafting and negotiations at the in-house competition at Wayne Law and first in drafting at the regional competition at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law.

Prior to law school, Lena attended Michigan State University, James Madison College, receiving a major in Social Relations & Policy. Lena additionally earned a minor in Spanish language, spending a semester in Madrid studying at CAPA, International Education and working as a translator and cultural ambassador at CEPI Hispano-Colombiano.

Originally from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Lena graduated from International Academy and is a former member of Lahser High School’s softball, volleyball, basketball and cross-country teams. In her free time, she enjoys baking, golfing, and spending time with family and Lola, her dog.
