Kaveri Subbarao is a dynamic leader, lawyer, and entrepreneur with a best-in-class background in business and strategy. She brings an insightful and highly strategic 360° perspective to legal and business issues that enables clients to identify and optimize opportunities, heighten profitability and minimize risk.
She is a corporate attorney providing focused, proactive legal advice and business counsel to companies and individuals in all stages of development and in a variety of industries. A creative problem solver, she works extensively with C-suite executives, boards of directors and corporate general counsel in the design and execution of legally sound, progressive business approaches and initiatives that are aligned with corporate objectives.
As Practice Director of Clark Hill’s Litigation practice, Kaveri is responsible for designing and stewarding worldwide development strategies and championing next stage growth for the firm’s largest practice group.
Immediately prior to joining Clark Hill, Kaveri served as the CEO of a strategic consulting practice primarily positioned to help middle market companies re-engineer the way they do business and vaunt their capabilities to drive financial and brand optimization. A ‘turn-around artist’, Kaveri’s hybrid expertise in both law and business enabled her to provide her diverse portfolio of clients with critical strategic guidance to overcome growth plateaus and build sustainable profitability across a broad spectrum of company operations. By translating legal concepts into approachable terms and cleverly presenting new concepts and best practices in business and finance, she set the stage for immediate, successful implementation of innovative as well as tried-and-true practices.
Kaveri started her legal career in private practice at ReedSmith, LLP as a corporate attorney and thereafter served as in-house general counsel for several entities. Her significant transactional experience includes work in securities, advertising and media, intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, and international law.
Kaveri was a Dean’s Fellow at American University's Washington College of Law in Washington, DC where she earned her J.D. by attending classes part-time while working full-time for the Exxon Mobil Corporation in rigorous and intensive roles managing business and marketing activities in North and South America. During her tenure with ExxonMobil, she helped steward premier brands such as Mobil 1, Mobil, Exxon and Esso and develop strategic alliances, major sponsorships and licensing agreements with entities such as NASCAR, Miller Brewing Company, General Motors and WalMart.
She is extremely involved in her community and serves as general counsel to a number of non-profit entities, providing a targeted focus and drive to their operations in support of their missions.
