Douglas J. Ellis
Douglas J. Ellis provides a variety of services and advice to employers, administrators, fiduciaries and other clients on matters related to employee benefits and executive compensation. He brings an extensive knowledge of tax, securities, accounting, ERISA and corporate governance rules and practices to address the compensation and benefits issues faced by his clients.
Doug has substantial experience in implementing and administering broad-based employee benefit programs, including welfare benefit plans and tax-qualified retirement plans. He assists clients on complying with nondiscrimination, reporting, disclosure and fiduciary requirements relating to benefit plans and trusts. He also provides advice in mergers and acquisitions with regard to benefits, compensation and related employee transition matters, including administration and integration of benefit plans, treatment of equity awards and structuring of severance or retention arrangements.
Doug also assists clients in the design, drafting and implementation of executive compensation programs, including bonus plans, equity incentives, employment and severance agreements, SERPs and other executive retirement plans, deferred compensation and rabbi trusts, as well as retention and change in control arrangements.
Before joining Clark Hill, Doug was a partner in the employee benefits practice group of an international law firm based in Pittsburgh.
