David M. Powers
David M. Powers is a Senior Counsel in Clark Hill’s Government & Public Affairs Practice Group in the Washington, D.C. Office. David works primarily in the firm’s Political Law practice where he counsels nonprofit entities, corporations, trade associations, candidates, Super PACs, and national and state party committees, on issues including federal and state campaign finance, lobbying, nonprofit and ethics laws.
David serves as the General Counsel to a national education reform organization. During the 2014 election cycle, he was a Senior Counsel to the Republican National Committee where he advised the RNC’s Presidential Debates Committee, the Communications and Data & Digital departments, and managed the RNC’s litigation.
Earlier in his career, David worked in the Washington, D.C. office of a prominent international law firm, and clerked on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit for Senior Judge Emmett Ripley Cox. Prior to attending law school, he served as a Special Assistant to Governor Jeb Bush.
