Thomas M. DixonMember Areas of Practice Bar Admissions Education Memberships Thomas M. Dixon is a member of Clark Hill’s Litigation Practice Group and serves on the firm’s Executive Committee. He has experience in a broad range of complex commercial disputes. His practice principally involves cases in the areas of commercial and contract claims, insurance coverage, business torts, product liability and trust and estate litigation. In addition to trying cases to verdict, Mr. Dixon is experienced in arbitration, facilitation and mediation ADR processes and has, in appropriate circumstances, assisted clients in avoiding the court system and more efficiently resolving disputes. Mr. Dixon has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a broad variety of business related disputes involving supplier agreements, breach of warranty claims, insurance coverage litigation and related UCC disputes. He has successfully prosecuted and defended complex business fraud cases, including employee conversion and theft claims. In the area of product liability, Mr. Dixon has defended manufacturers of medical devices, automobile components, industrial trucks, forklifts, pharmaceuticals and products giving rise to mass tort claims. Mr. Dixon has substantial experience in trying will, trust and estate litigation cases in probate courts throughout Michigan. Representative cases include defense of institutional and individual fiduciaries, including trustees and personal representatives, in fraud, negligence, and breach of fiduciary duty claims. Mr. Dixon also has substantial experience litigating will and trust contests and related litigation involving claims of mental incapacity, fraud, duress and undue influence. Mr. Dixon’s cases have involved some of the largest private estates ever litigated in Michigan. Mr. Dixon has also served as national litigation counsel to a substantial computer service company. In that capacity, Mr. Dixon managed a host of business and employment related cases throughout the country and abroad. While attending Notre Dame Law School, Mr. Dixon was awarded the William T. Kirby Award for excellence in legal writing and he served as editor of the Journal of College and University Law, authoring several articles for that widely distributed publication. As an undergraduate at the University of Michigan, Mr. Dixon earned an NCAA post-graduate academic scholarship, in addition to achieving Academic All-American and All-American football honors. In extra-legal activities, Mr. Dixon has served as a Rotary Club officer and as President and Executive Board Member of the University of Michigan Letterwinners Club. Mr. Dixon is a long-time resident of Plymouth, Michigan. |
