Joseph S. Kopietz is an Associate with the Real Estate Group of Clark Hill’s Detroit office.  Mr. Kopietz focuses his practice in the area of affordable and multifamily housing, representing for-profit developers and not-for-profit organizations in all stages of acquisition, development, construction/rehabilitation, operation, and disposition of market-rate and affordable housing developments.  Mr. Kopietz is also experienced in the utilization of Historic Tax Credits and New Marker Tax Credits as well as Brownfield Development Tax Credits and other incentives for community development projects.  He also has experience advising small and mid-size businesses on federal, state and local tax issues.

Prior to joining Clark Hill, Mr. Kopietz was the Chief Operating Officer of a nonprofit agency which provided affordable housing and health services in Southeast Michigan. 

Mr. Kopietz serves on the Board of Directors for the Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness, the leading advocacy organization for homeless persons in Michigan and the agencies that serve them, and on the Affordable Housing Committee of the Oakland County Task Force on Homelessness and Affordable Housing.  He is also a member of the Michigan Housing Council and American Bar Association Forum on Affordable Housing and Community Development.
