Reginald M. Turner, Jr. Joins Clark Hill PLCApril 02, 2000-Reginald M. Turner, Jr., a prominent Michigan leader in the legal profession whose practice is focused in the labor and employment arena, has joined Clark Hill's Employment Practice Group in the firm's Detroit office. During the course of more than ten years in private practice, Turner has held key positions in the national, state and local bar. He is a current member of the National Bar Association Board of Governors, Past Director of the Detroit Bar Association, Past President of Barristers and Past President of the Wolverine Bar Association. Currently, Turner serves as Secretary of the State Bar of Michigan and is a member of both its Board of Governors and its Representative Assembly. As Secretary, he is in the chairs to be President of the State Bar of Michigan in three years. On an historical note, Turner will be the fourth member of Clark Hill to serve as State Bar President. Among the others was Patrick J. Keating. Turner served as a 1996-1997 White House Fellow in Washington, D.C. He was one of 18 chosen for the prestigious program. During the fellowship, Turner coordinated a nine-agency Presidential task force which addressed socioeconomic issues in riot-plagued St. Petersburg, Florida, and chaired a White House delegation which toured South Africa and Mozambique. Following his graduation from the University of Michigan Law School, Turner served as Judicial Law Clerk to now Mayor and then Michigan Supreme Court Justice Dennis W. Archer. He later served as Mayor Archer's 1997 reelection Campaign Manager. Turner is Steering Committee Co-Chair with Mayor Dennis Archer of the Medical-Education-Legal-Law Enforcement Team Program (M.E.L.L.), an anti-drug and violence prevention program in Detroit schools which reaches more than 5,000 children directly and thousands more through television each year. He also served as Mayor Archer's representative to Governor Engler's Blue Ribbon Commission on Michigan Gaming and to the City of Detroit Ethics Task Force. He is a Director of the United Way and of the Detroit Institute of Arts; Vice President of Northwest Detroiters for Better Government; and a member of the Old Newsboys Goodfellows Fund.
