Education Law Alert

 School Bus Inspection Program Reinstated

Earlier this week, we alerted you that the Michigan State Police (the "MSP") would be stopping school bus inspections, effective October 31, 2009, due to the State's elimination of certain funding under the State School Aid Act.  The Michigan Association of School Administrators and the Michigan Association of Pupil Transportation is reporting that, on October 30, 2009, the Governor signed a Bill that provides funding for, and requires the MSP to continue, inspections of school buses.  Thus, MSP inspectors will be reporting to work on November 2, 2009 and continuing their inspections as normal pursuant to the requirements of the Pupil Transportation Act.
