Jennifer Woods is an associate with Clark Hill’s Intellectual Property Group.
Jen concentrates her practice in the area of intellectual property and related matters, including trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, unfair competition, antitrust counseling, and information security and privacy. She has been involved in litigating a variety of intellectual property-related matters, including copyright and trademark infringement, copyright misuse, trade secret misappropriation, unfair competition, and false advertising. She also regularly handles trademark prosecution matters, including opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
Jen counsels businesses and trade associations on a wide variety of antitrust issues, including intellectual property licenses, joint ventures, non-compete agreements, sales contracts, and premerger notification filings under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act, and presents antitrust training programs to corporations and trade associations. She also litigates cases involving the Sherman and Clayton Acts, including actions arising under both Sections 1 and 2 of the Sherman Act, and has drafted competition-related white papers to the Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice Antitrust Division.
Jen also advises businesses on issues related to online privacy, data protection, breach notification, reputation management, email marketing, and false advertising. Jen co-authored an article in the Westlaw Journal of Computer & Internet titled, “The FTC and Mobile Security,” analyzing the Federal Trade Commission’s report on privacy and explained the key points for industry stakeholders. She has also co-authored Clark Hill client alerts on emerging issues in privacy and information security law.
Jen obtained her law degree from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where she was a Student Fellow with the Institute for Consumer Antitrust Studies and Articles Editor for the Loyola Consumer Law Review. During law school, Jennifer authored articles in the European antitrust journal World Competition (co-authored with Spencer Weber Waller) and Loyola Consumer Law Review.
Jen is currently serving as a member of the United States Advisory Board for the Institute of Consumer Antitrust Studies, and has been a coach of the ABA Negotiation Team at the Loyola University Chicago School of Law since 2011.
